Fabian Cancellara Partners With Tudor To Launch Pro Cycling Team In 2023

“Switzerland needs to have a cycling team,”

Fabian Pro Team

Fabian Cancellara, the Swiss former road racing cyclist has announced that he will be creating a Swiss Professional Cycling Team for 2023 in partnership with Tudor-the famous watch brand. This decision comes under an urgency as Cancellara said that there needs to be a pro cycling team that will represent Switzerland.

Fabian will be the team owner and will also be taking care of the Swiss Racing Academy. The team reveal was surely astounding as it was presented a few hours before Tour de Romandie. Cancellara is more than qualified for this role as he is a former world time trial champion, if anyone knows about tactics and leadership then it is him.

As this is still a new team, it will be officially known as the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, while its riders will don a new black jersey, debuting at the U23 Paris-Roubaix on May 15. For now, the team will be riding BMC bikes, while development plans for 2023 will also be underway.

In an exclusive interview, Fabian Cancellara said:

Today we announce that in 2023, we’re going to have a Swiss cycling team.

I was already with the Swiss Racing Academy as a mentor. From next year we’re going to change the team name and we’ll have a Swiss team back in the pro peloton.

This addition of a new Swiss team to the Peloton is a win for the country and upholds their cycling traditions. It was much needed as there was no WorldTour or ProTeam in the peloton that represented Switzerland, not since Team BMC Racing became Team CCC in 2019.

Cancellara has hopes that this will be one of the best ProTeams, and their rankings will also be unmatched. If they do good enough, they will automatically get invites to Grand Tours and WorldTour Classics, as is the case with other best ranking teams.

Cancellara explained:

Switzerland needs to have a cycling team. Especially with all the latest successes over the last years. And all the progression in terms of what the Swiss Federation has done, and the whole system in general.

Everything starts from the base. If you don’t work on the base, you can’t build the pyramid. It’s for me, personally, a big big day. It’s also a big day for cycling in Switzerland.

Cancellara is a veteran of the cycling industry and it will be a joy seeing him at the helm of Tudor Pro Cycling Team.
