Remco Evenepoel Crashed Out On Stage 12

This is the first real difficulty that the rider has faced on his Vuelta a España tour.

As the peloton approached the finish line with 50 km to go, Remco Evenepoel crashed out. Evenepoel bent on the right side and slide out on stage 12 of Vuelta a España. Luckily nobody else was involved in the crash.

The race leader escaped the crash without any serious injury. He scratched his right leg and arm. This is the first time he was hit by a difficulty. The crash happened mid-stage while the Paleton was descending. 

Nonetheless, Evenepoel is still in the lead in the General Classification but he will have to fight to keep his position. Vuelta a Españaalready lost Pieter Serry to Covid-19 and then  Julian Alaphilppe was forced to quit the Vuelta with a dislocated shoulder.
