Elisa Balsamo All Set To Defend Her Title At The UCI Road World Championships

The Trek-Segafredo rider has had an outstanding season so far but will she be able to defend her rainbow jersey or will the jersey change hands?
Elisa Balsamo

Elisa Balsamo has performed exceptionally well in the racing season of 2022. Her final victory at the Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta marks the end of her first season at Trek-Segafredo. Talking about her victory, The World Champion said:

I really wanted to win today, the last day of this incredible season in the rainbow jersey. I won the first race, in February, at the Setmana Valenciana, and with today’s win, it’s like I’m closing a circle. Today is a special day, full of emotions. Madrid was a crazy setting

Balsamo was the strongest in her sprint against Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx) and Marta Bastianelli (UAE Team ADQ). With the Ceratizit Challenge done and dusted, Balsamo is now headed to the 2022 UCI Road World Championships to defend her rainbow jersey.
