Marianne Vos And The Yellow Jersey: A Love Story

In her own words, "There were moments that I rode around with goosebumps."

Marrianne Vos

Jumbo-Visma’s Marianne Vos was seen dancing to the tunes of the yellow jersey at the Tour de France Femmes. The rider did all she could to retain the jersey but lost to Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig on stage 3. Nevertheless, Vos remained the overall leader and plans to keep her place. Despite ending up in second place, Vos was satisfied by her performance, she said:

I fought for it. I’m happy to keep yellow but Cecilie was strongest on the final climb. It wasn’t close, there was quite a big gap. I gave it my all, but in the end, I didn’t have the legs to accelerate. After such a hard race, I’m happy to stay another day in yellow

Initially, Vos crossed Niewiadoma but she couldn’t beat Uttrup Ludwig. Vos reflected on the day’s events:

I tried to stay up front, stay with the leaders to try to go for another stage victory. I had to give it my all over the other climbs, and this was all we could do

Marianne is enjoying racing in the yellow jersey. She won the jersey at stage 2, where she not only stood victorious but also leads classification. She had mixed feelings while racing at Danemark, a feeling which is best described in her own words:

There were moments that I rode around with goosebumps and other moments where I was suffering just trying to stay on a wheel, and in contention

While her teammate, Anna Henderson (Jumbo-Visma) is ready to provide any kind of support needed for the Maillot Jaune. Anna also conveyed that the focus of the team is on achieving maximum stage wins:

We were here to win stages and yellow is a big bonus, and we will do more work to support Marianne
