Domenico Pozzovivo Joins Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux For 2022

"I was really convinced that there was still time to make things right. At the moment I don't really know what to say or what to do,"

Domenico Pozzovivo has finally joined team Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux for 2022. This is great news as the Italian rider was left without a team as Qhubeka-NextHash failed to find suitable financial support. Exciting times are certainly ahead of Domenico as he will be riding under the new team’s banner.

Pozzovivo has a very strong lineup, he finished in the top 10 at the Giro d’Italia multiple times. In December 2021, he lost all the hope as Qhubeka-NextHash could not sustain their contracts with the riders. He wished to “Continue” racing in 2022 and now he will be doing that.

Domenico is not the only one who had long-term contracts with Qhubeka-NextHash, there were 5 other athletes, but the contract became void when they financially collapsed.

Pozzovivo stated in an interview last December,

Although Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux still has to make the addition official, they have added Pozzovivo to their roster for 2022. Pozzovivo is going to be an exceptional addition to the already talented team, the Italian is already a 15- year veteran.

Domenico has competed in more than 21 Grand Tours, and six times he finished in the overall top-10 classification. Five times in the Giro d’Italia (2008, 2012, 2014, 2017, and 2018) and once at the Vuelta an España (2013).

Apart from this, he also secured three stages win and an overall win at the Giro del Trentino. He also has stage wins at the Giro d’Italia and Tour de Suisse.

The Italian rider is going to add a lot of depth, and invaluable experience to Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux. Stay tuned for more updates!
