Miche Excite is not a bad wheelset by any means, it still is not all that spectacular either. This is because it is quite average in most respects. However, if you are looking for a cheap but decent wheelset, then this would be it.
If you have not really heard of Miche Excite, it is okay. These aren’t exactly the hottest setting items in the bike shop. While there is nothing defective about the design or the construction, the Excite hasn’t really progressed much either. This means that you are typically stuck with something that is adequate but still outdated.
Nonetheless, my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to take this set out for a spin. The Excite is one of the heavier wheelsets on the market and it is apparent. The good news about this is that you don’t really feel it as you ride around on flat land. On even ground, the Excite actually offers up a comfortable and pleasant ride.
The problems begin once you decide to head uphill, however. You are going to find yourself straining against this added weight here. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect to be racing up hills anytime soon although the trip down the slope was quite fun.
The Miche Excite is a good wheelset for a hard wearing bike, nonetheless. It is able to take a considerable amount of weight. This can be quite handy if you tend to carry other items with you when you ride your road bike. I also found out that it is a good wheelset to ride on every day. This is because it takes bumps and potholes without too much protest. I also didn’t see any damages on the alloy rims, which means they will last you a while.
+Pros:
Cheap
Tough
Can carry a lot of weight
-Cons:
Heavy
Difficult to get uphill
The Verdict
The Miche Excite will do if you are not looking for any special features or extraordinary performance.
This is the wheelset to choose if you are looking for a budget option for your bike.
