Mavic Cosmic Review
The Mavic Cosmic is an aero series that provides with numerous opportunities, depending what you are looking for. These wheelsets are comprised of an entire spectrum. On the lower end of the scale, you have the alloy-based rims that are more cost-efficient. While these may not perform as well as the more expensive options, you do get an admirable performance from.
This is what we discovered, however, trying several options from the Cosmic series. The performance is quite consistent across the board. Certain options such as the Cosmic Carbone 40 may not be as light as its counterparts. Nonetheless, you do get a certain level of toughness and stiffness that is otherwise not forthcoming.
There are some wheelsets such as the Cosmic Ultimate and Cosmic Pro Carbon SL does weigh a great deal less. In doing so, you do find that these options tend to be faster and offer up better acceleration rates. Still, there is no discounting the fact that these are certainly high-quality aero wheelsets. There is hardly any drag at all and these function quite well even when dealing with crosswinds.
Another thing to note is that these wheelsets do appear to be quite durable. They have been designed to deal with most of the wear and tear that comes from daily riding. Another selling point is the braking performance of the series, which really is quite laudable. It is worth mentioning that some of the better performing Cosmic wheelsets can be quite pricey.
