Bobbin Bramble Review

Bobbin has been around for less than a decade in London, and the company is especially geared towards the inexperienced riders who are not looking to become bicycle experts. Their cycles have a lot of retro-inspired designs, and the Bramble is no exception.

For a budget bike, this is a great option. It’s clearly designed with a 1960s feel but with a modern twist. For a commuter, the Bobbin Bramble is pretty light, just about 26 pounds (12 kg), which is a great weight for the average woman rider. We were pretty pleased with how light this bike felt, even with the rack mounts, chainguard, and fenders.

We also liked the synthetic padded saddle that’s geared for a nice upright position. For a few hundred dollars though, we’ve seen a few better commuters. The Shimano and Tektro componentry are a little on the low-end side. This was our only qualm really, as this bike handles well on the pavement and tarmac, so we were pleased with it overall.

+Pros:

  • Light weight
  • Comfortable riding and finishing
  • Great look and design
  • Rack mounts, fenders, chainguard, and kick stand
  • Rides well on pavement and road
  • 7-speeder
  • Durable and hardy

-Cons:

  • Better componentry available on cheaper commuters

The Verdict

This bike is a good option for budget riders looking for a durable, reliable commuter bike with decent componentry and good performance.

The Bobbin Bramble is a great-looking retro-like commuter cycle that comes fit out with everything you need. If you don’t mind spending a little bit for all of this, it’s a great choice. If you are looking for a bit better performance and quality components, this is not the best bike for the price.
