Fran Miholjević Wins Stage 3 Of Giro di Sicilia In A Thrilling Finale

“I gave it my all. It’s a sign that all the hard work I did has paid off. It’s life changing, but I still can’t believe it,”
Fran Giro Di Sicilia Win

Fran Miholjević won stage 3 of Giro di Sicilia with a breathtaking performance, his solo ride was nothing but commendable. The final kilometers of the event in Caltagirone were really intense, and when the dust cleared, the Croatian could not believe that he won the stage. He put behind Damiano Caruso (Bahrain Victorious) for the ultimate win.

Miholjević got to share the podium with Pier-André Coté (Human Powered Health) and Filippo Fiorelli (Bardiani-CSF-Faizanè). The fact that Fran Miholjević races for an amateur team CT Friuli ASD makes this win even more progressive and plausible.

This stage 3 win of the Giro di Sicilia is the first major win for Fran, the other win was in his home country at the start of this season. In terms of rankings, he has also progressed well, he is now 18 seconds ahead of Caruso. As of right now, Caruso and Vincenzo Nibali are 41 seconds behind Fran Miholjević.

A group of six riders made it to the front charging ahead, and Fran Miholjević was part of that. Apart from the win, he also won the young rider classification.

After crossing the finish line, Fran Miholjević said:

I gave it my all. It’s a sign that all the hard work I did has paid off. It’s life changing, but I still can’t believe it.

I still don’t believe what happened. I started with the intention of going on the run especially to show the sponsors live on TV but step by step we saw that the group was unable to recover. I started to believe it when I got to 50 meters and it was beautiful. I will try to keep the jersey but it will be very difficult, in the meantime I have won this extraordinary victory.

Giro di Sicilia will conclude on Friday with stage 4, it will be sprawled over a distance of 140km. With the finale situated at Piano Provenzana with the ski resort, it will be an entertaining watch.
