Anna Kay Suffers A Concussion, Won’t Be Competing In The Cyclo-Cross World Championships

Great Britain Team Loses Anna Kay For The Cyclo-Cross World Championships

Anna Kay

The Cyclo-Cross World Championships will be beginning from this weekend but the Great Britain team has already lost their most-prized rider, Anna Kay. The young rider was supposed to be the sole representative of the team in the women’s division but the situation took a wrong turn.

During the warm-up session World Cup in Hoogerheide, she suffered a head injury and was later on advised to have bed rest instead of traveling till she is fully better. This is indeed sad news, as Anna Kay was motivated beyond measure for the upcoming Championships.

She stated,

And just like that my American adventure is gone. A pre-race fall at yesterday’s World Cup in Hoogerheide on the hurdles led to a head injury. Tried to race but stepped off as I wasn’t right.

In such a short amount of time, Anna Kay has accumulated a lot of wins for her career. The first main victory was the bronze medal in the Women’s under-23 category that took place in Dubendorf, she currently rides for Team StarCasino as an elite rider. Apart from this, she also won two times the C2 Ethias Cross in November 2021, and let’s not forget the National Trophy Series that took place in Broughton in January 2022.

Even though she is out of the World Championships, she was still trying her best to cheer up her teammates.

Big disappointment but correct decision. Time now to cheer on my GB teammates this weekend and rest up for the last weeks of the season.

We wish Anna a very speedy recovery, and can’t wait to see her in action again once she recovers.
