Dawes Camden Review

Dawes Camden is one of the best minimalist design bikes we have seen. It was simply a delight to take a Camden out for a spin. We can say right away that this model is beautifully crafted. The looks are simply classy. It combines the classic city bike looks expertly well with modern, sleek looks.

Of course, the Camden is not all about the looks. One of the highlights of the design is the double butted 4130 series chromoly frame and the Chromoly fork. The gear system, cassette, and the chains are Shimano. Rapidfire shifters, Alex Ace 19 rims, anodised alloy mudguards and a lightweight alloy rear carrier are fitted into the retro looking frame.

Impressively enough, the tires are Schwalbe Marathon puncture resistant. Overall, the design ensures a minimal and clean profile. It’s very easy to ride a Camden through city streets. The frame is adept at handling minor shocks, but not major ones. Camden is quite nimble to tide, but there will be some bumps along the way. The gear set comes with 8 speeds, which is more than enough for cities.

In addition, there a lightweight rack for stuff your goodies when travelling. This is a good bike to have if you can handle the price.

+Pros:

  • Solid design
  • Good specs
  • Minimalist frame
  • Clean profile

-Cons:

  • Can be pricey
  • Can handle only urban terrain

The Verdict

If you are looking for a retro bike with modern capabilities, then Dawes Camden is the model you should go with.

This is one of the most hassle-free city bikes available. You can ride in relative comfort and speed in a secure and manageable way. Riding a Dawes Camden is simply a delight that you shouldn’t pass up on.
