NS Bikes Snabb Review
It goes without saying if you are looking for a trail bike or an enduro bike, you need one that can take a lashing. These types of bikes are going to need to stand up to a considerable amount of abuse and rough terrain and not really bear the scars. With the Snabb, this is precisely what you get.
Two of the main features that really let you rip into the Snabb is the suspension and the solid frame. In particular, you can expect great suspension balance between the RockShox Monarch RT3 DebonAir and the Pike fork. This means that you can take a couple of hits and not really feel much while riding.
The overall weight of the Snabb can be a little off putting. After all, 14 kilos is nothing to sneeze at. This will not be as much of a problem as you might anticipate, however, thanks to the addition of 42t sprocket to the cassette. Despite the added weight, you are going to have exert yourself as much as you thought.
Another time cyclists worry about the weight is when you want to get to higher ground. This is precisely why we decided to see how well it fared, trying to get up the slopes. Surprisingly enough, we experienced no problems. While it is definitely better when heading downhill, the climb was not bad at all.
+Pros:
- Is a bike that can be used and abused with minimal impact
- Great suspension
- Good fork
-Cons:
- A bit expensive
- Can do better on climbs
The Verdict
The NS Bikes Snabb is ideal for those who want a hardier bike with excellent handling and great suspension.
Yes, you are probably going to have to part with more money that you might be comfortable with. In the long run, however, you are going to find that it was completely worth it. Particularly, if you are a cyclist who likes pushing your bike to its limits.
Main Features: Carbon Front Triangle, Carbon seat stay, AL6061-T6 chain stays, AL7075-T6 rocker arm Designed for Enduro & Trail riding 160mm rear travel Modern aggressive geometry with long reach & slack angles Fox Factory Kashima DPX2 LV Evol shock Widely praised for performance and reliability the Snabb is the most complete mountain bike NS Bikes can imagine. The massive one-piece rocker arm makes the rear triangle incredibly stable and drives the new generation of metric shocks with a trunion mount – longer, bigger, better. The result is an even more rigid rear end and a more linear suspension curve than in the earlier models. The suspension kinematics are dialed to perfection (Pinkbike: “There is so little pedal-induced bobbing at play here that it sort of boggles the mind”) and the geometry is modern, low, long and slack. The frames are built to DH racing standards and run on high-end MAX bearings for prolonged periods of smooth, service free use. The 160C is really the ultimate mountain bike. The use of the highest grades of carbon fibre results in over 600g weight savings over the alloy versions. The main purpose of the bike is to excel at Enduro races, but even if you don’t race, this is probably one of the most versatile mountain bikes out there. The frame comes fitted with the Fox Factory Kashima shock that has exceptional small bump compliance and will work best with a 160mm-170mm fork.
