Subrosa Arum Review

Subrosa hasn’t been around for much longer than a decade, but it is a brand from makers who pride themselves in their creativity and BMX lifestyle. With that kind of background in mind, we had some high expectations for the Subrosa Arum.

For this review, we took the bike out to some rough trails and into the park to see how they’d manage. As expected, we were able to pull some neat tricks and catch some good air over the trails. Having said that, we had to knock off a point because we couldn’t pull any expert tricks without the tires feeling a little loose. It didn’t help that the frame doesn’t feel as hardy as a BMX should be.

Granted, this is not a pro bike, but it is still a great performer for beginners and practice. The weight is around a decent 27 lb, a pretty easy to handle bike overall.

+Pros:

  • Decent weight
  • Unique look
  • Handles most trails well
  • Well suited for beginners
  • Makes a good practice bike
  • Affordable

-Cons:

  • Even a wheelie feels unstable with loose-feeling tires

The Verdict

A great BMX for a steal of a price, but you may need to swap out the wheelset if you want a more durable, reliable bike.

We would definitely recommend the Subrosa Arum, but only for smaller budgets, beginners, and practicing. If you have basic needs or are looking for some recreational riding, this is a good choice. For competition and hardcore riding, you’ll have to widen your search.
