Specialized Crosstrail Review

We took a look at the gorgeous Specialized Crosstrail, and we didn’t come out disappointed. Simplicity is key when it comes to the design of this bike – it has a nice aluminum frame with quite a lot of clearance between the tires and the frame.

The frame also has a mount available for a bike rack or a fender. In addition to this, the front of the bike has a SR Suntour fork with 60mm of travel. The brakes were one of the shining features of the bike – the Tektro Draco disc braking system was one of the most powerful and efficient that we have used in a while.

The bike is extremely versatile and is great for touring, city travel, urban cycling and even some of the lighter trails out there. While we don’t suggest that you take it out for some pure trail riding, this is definitely one of the most capable bikes we have seen. If you are ever in an emergency and need to cut across country on your bike, we are sure that the Crosstrail will be there for you.

+Pros:

  • Highly versatile bike
  • Simple, efficient design
  • Good suspension
  • Disc brakes provide powerful braking
  • All-round performance

-Cons:

  • Could have better travel on the fork for rougher trails

The Verdict

Although it is marketed as an urban bike, the Specialized Crosstrail is actually capable of doing quite a lot in terms of trail riding, commuting and even touring.

We had so much fun on this one that we were actually sad to let it go. The Specialized Crosstrail was a lot of fun to ride, was very comfortable and was one of the most versatile bikes out there in our opinion.
