Scott Contessa Review

The sizes in the Scott Contessa range had us sitting in more of an upright position than in an actual racing position, which meant that the bike was meant less for speed and more for casual speeding. The frame was made out of carbon fiber though, and was more than capable of powering down the roads.

The bottom bracket of the Contessa was a lot bigger than usual, and had a high stiffness as well in order to transmit power better. The best bike in the range of seven Contessa bikes featured a gorgeous 11 speed Shimano Ultegra 6800 gearset, which was pretty great indeed.

We did feel like the chainset and cassette were made more for a trail bike than for a road bike, but this wasn’t too big of an issue. The ride was very responsive indeed, and it accelerated really well.

There was a lot of damping on the ride, which meant that the small variations in the smoothness of the road were barely noticeable while riding this bike.

+Pros:

  • Gorgeous frame design
  • Epic components
  • Feels like an offroad bike too
  • Great power transmission
  • Smooth responsive ride

-Cons:

  • Rear brake adjustment is tedious

The Verdict

The Scott Contessa is a range of bikes that are bound to satisfy every need in the book, although it may have some discrepancies along the way.

Overall though, we had a really great time on the Scott Contessa line. They performed very well indeed, and showed as that speed and comfort can go hand in hand instead of being two separate qualities for a bike!
