Merida One-Twenty Review
Merida is known for making some truly exceptional bikes. The better bikes, however, tend to be in the more expensive range of the brand. The One Twenty, although not cheap, was definitely a cheaper option. Furthermore, it promised to offer a performance that was quite similar to higher level bikes. We decided to take the challenge and head to the slopes.
As we started off our journey, we marveled at the fluidity of the bike. Even on the flat ground and the inclines, this bike was a force to be reckoned with. While it performed just fine, we did experience a little discomfort on our way up. For the most part, however, the suspension on this bike is a dream. It is a perfect companion for trying to get through some rougher terrain.
This dependability, perhaps, is what sums the One Twenty up best. Regardless of the terrain you hit or the ground you are riding, it is easy to feel confident with this bike. We found this to be particularly true as we headed downhill. The bike fielded roots and rocks as if they were minor inconveniences.
The handling is also quite good and we had no trouble taking those corners. Although it is not the fastest mountain bike around, you will have little trouble getting up to the speed that you require. All of the components of the One Twenty come together to work quite well.
If you are going to find fault with the bike, it would be the front suspension. This is not to say that it is bad by any stretch of the imagination. Rather, when compared to the back, it does fall short.
- Good quality frame
- Works well on inclines
- Fantastic going downhill
- Good handling
- Great rear suspension
- Front suspension
- A little heavy at times
- A bit expensive
The Merida One-Twenty is a good option for someone who is looking for a steadfast mountain bike to hit up some rough terrain.
If you do not have the means to shell out for several mountain bikes, the Merida One-Twenty is definitely something that you should own.
