Ghost Tacana Review

The very structure of the Ghost Tacana puts it somewhere between a cross country bike and a mountain bike. While it is doubtful that this bike will hold up to more extreme conditions, it does perform admirably on several different terrains.

The Tacana is one of those bikes that are neither particularly light nor are all that heavy. As such, we were not really too sure what to expect from the performance so decided to dive right in. For the most part, the Tacana held up quite well. It was a surprisingly smooth ride for all of us.

The steering and the handling were quite good and it did not take much to keep the Tacana on course. That being said, the Tacana is typically better off with a beginner rider than someone who is more experienced. This is particularly true if you are planning on hitting some hardcore trails. The components although good may not necessarily respond well to harsher terrain.

Still, we appreciated the suspension offered with the Tacana. It saved us the discomfort of absorbing the impact from the terrain ourselves. This makes it a lot more comfortable than we were expecting. As long as you do not go overboard with trickier trails, the Tacana will live up to expectation. Hitting mild to coarse trails was actually quite pleasant with this hardtail.

If you are getting started with mountain biking or are an intermediate rider, this bike will actually prove to be quite useful. Others who are more experienced may not be as satisfied.

+Pros:

  • Good frame
  • Handles well
  • Good suspension
  • Steering is good

-Cons:

  • A little expensive
  • Not great on harsher trails
  • Better suited for beginners

The Verdict

The Ghost Tacana is a reliable hardtail that performs well on most rough terrain. It is a good entry level bike.

The Ghost Tacana is a good bike that will help in gaining some understanding about trails and how they should be maneuvered. Beginner riders will find this bike quite useful, despite the considerable price tag on it.
