Dawes XC18 Review
First things first, the Dawes XC18 is one of the cheapest options on the market. Of course, this does not mean that it is the best. However, if you are not really used to mountain bikes and are still getting the hang of things, this is a good bike to have. Particularly if you are not sure that you are going to stick with the sport.
Of course, though it is labelled as a mountain bike, you can hit the streets with this bike as well. It may not perform as well as some of the others but will certainly do in a pinch. At any rate it will save you the trouble of switching out your bikes every so often.
So let’s take a look at what is good about the Dawes XC18. To begin with, this is a lightweight bike. This makes it a lot easier to get up those inclines and it is a dab hand at hitting the slopes. The other thing that definitely deserves our compliments are the gears. They may take some getting used to but once you’ve got the hang of it, you will find switching them a breeze. The brakes are also quite good, allowing you to stop on a dime even going downhill.
One thing you will definitely be hoping for when you hit all of those bumps on when mountain biking is comfort. While the XC18 does not offer the greatest suspension, it still absorbs just enough to make riding it comfortable. The seating also adds to the overall comfort of this bike.
- Extremely affordable
- Lightweight frame
- Good brakes
- Easy to handle
- A strictly beginners bike
- Not the best option out there
For the reasonable price, the Dawes XC18 offers you quite a good experience.
It is safe to say that this bike is not the best one on the market, for its price range. Nonetheless, you cannot fault it as it is not a bad mountain bike. At the very least, this bike will spur your love for cycling to greater heights.
