Trek Emonda Review
At the top of the line, a Trek Emonda can cost you a good $10K or so, but if you want a top quality performer, then you’ve got to shell out. The Trek Bicycle Corporation is responsible for some award winning race bikes, many of which have crossed the finishing line at the Tour de France and many other road championships since the 1980s. Needless to say, it was only a matter of time before Trek came up with the world’s lightest road bike line.
The OCLV carbon frames on this line are what make the bikes so lightweight and gives them added strength. We loved how aggressive the positioning is, with better stability and control. We took these bikes out for several test rides, and if we had to complain about something, it would be that some of our reviewers were not too happy with the brake pads on wetter roads. One or two of us did feel that on some models, the wheelsets were subpar.
Other than that, rides on Emondas are smooth, well-balanced, and breezy on the climbs. These versatile bikes definitely come highly recommended.
- The lightest weight for a road bike
- OCLV carbon tech
- Smooth rides and easy handling on various terrain
- SRAM RED drivetrain
- Speedy rides, even on ascents
- Brake pads slippery on wetter roads
- Subpar wheels for this price range
One of the best road bikes on the market, with some spectacular specs and the lightest carbon frames and forks.
The Trek Emonda series is by far one of the best and most fun bikes we have had the chance to review. Our favorite model has to be the Emonda SLR 10, but unless you are, or are planning to be, a pro, an SL 5 may give you the speed and the comfort that you need without breaking the bank.
