Norco Valence Review

The Norco Valence is a bike that looks and feels like a lot of thought went into the design process. From the rolled back parts of the dropout of the fork to the sloped, tapered top tube, this is a bike that has speed in its design.

The machine also feels like a throwback to the older days of Giant bikes with their skinny seatposts and awesome handling. A lot of people would assume that the Valence would go along with Norco’s endurance line, but the truth is that it feels like the ride is incredibly responsive.

While pedaling can be a little bouncy at the very start of the acceleration, it becomes insanely smooth as time goes by, and allows for speed to become the priority. Shimano 105 groupsets meant that we never had to complain about a lack of smoothness while shifting, and we never had to moan about how the power transmission was below par.

The only thing that was a little annoying in our minds was the Tektro braking system, which tended to feel less powerful than something like SRAM or Shimano could provide.

+Pros:

  • Gorgeous design and frame materials
  • Repsonsive, efficient ride
  • Speed is a priority
  • Great gearing and smoothness of ride

-Cons:

  • Somewhat below par in terms of brakes

The Verdict

Made for speed, the Norco Valence is a beautiful machine that is able to hold its own with bikes that have been in the game for decades – this is a bike with a lot of love behind it.

We had a great time riding the Norco Valence and testing it out. While it is true that the brakes weren’t that great, there was so much more that the ride had to offer, that we simply can’t resist it!
