Tire Clearance Checker
Check whether a wider tire, winter tire, or fender setup has enough frame clearance.
Use this tire clearance checker before fitting wider tires. The key question is not whether the tire barely fits in the stand. It is whether it leaves enough room for wheel flex, mud, snow, debris, and fenders if you use them.
Where to measure
Check the tightest points at the fork crown, chainstays, seatstays, brake bridge, fenders, and any frame-mounted accessories. Measure both side clearance and vertical clearance. Rear wheels can shift slightly under load, and tires often measure wider than the label.
Pair it with tire tools
Before buying tires, check rim pairing with the rim width to tire size chart, pressure with the bike tire pressure calculator, and cold-weather setup with the winter bike tire pressure calculator.
Leave more room in bad conditions
Wet gravel, sticky mud, packed snow, and studded tires all need more clearance than clean pavement. If the result is close, choose the smaller tire or test carefully before riding far from home.
