Shimano WH Review
Shimano WH is an Ultegra-level Dura Ace model of wheels. They are quire decent all round and can be used to training as well as racing. These wheels are impressive because they are superbly designed, but the price point isn’t over the top. If you are looking for aerodynamics, versatility and endurance in a set of wheels, the WH wheels are great to go with. These wheels are sturdy and is ready right of the box even without tubes.
The WH models were produced by Shimano after the Ultegra wheels were given the 11-speed jump. They are made from alloy. There are 16 radially laced spokes at the front and 20 at the back. The rear end has straight pull spokes with a cross pattern as well. The hubs have Shimano’s signature angular contact bearings, plus labyrinth seals. You can adjust the bearings without any need for tools. The flanges are made wide to improve the stiffness and balance. Also, just like many other Shimano models, the wheel body profile is not made to be feather light. Rather, with the freehub design Shimano is once again going for durability over weight. The wheels have valves so the rims are tubeless-ready. The rear rim is asymmetric to make spoke power even among the wheels.
The brake surface is made to allow for progressive stopping. You won’t have to worry about these wheels coming to a shrieking halt. These wheels are not flashy, but they perform well and are highly suitable for racing or training.

- Modest specs
Shimano WH is a very convenient set of wheels to own. They are ready to go right out of the box, and you can adjust the bearings by hand.
More importantly, these wheels are great for training and racing, which is a rare combination. Compared to many other Shimano products, the specs are not hip, but this is a decent wheelset to own.
