Merida Ride Review

The brand Merida has long been known for creating bikes for others. However, they decided to take a page out of their own book and decided to be their own masters. This, in part, is what makes the Merida Ride quite so interesting.

This is because Merida has reached a new height of innovation with Merida Ride. This is not to say that it is the best around but it certainly is intriguing. The Ride manages to find a happy compromise between speed and comfort although it typically seems that comfort is winning. This is due to the tires and the specific meeting of the rear triangle features and the seat tube. For the most part, you can expect an incredibly smooth experience. From what we observed, the terrain will need to be absolutely miserable before you feel even a little uncomfortable.

The handling on this bike is quite impressive, nonetheless. It is tight and controlled around the bends. With its lightweight frame, it is a pleasure to ride this bike. You really do not have to break a sweat if you do not want to. While you will be able to gain a certain amount of speed, you will definitely experience some limitations here.

The only real complaint that we can summon up about the Merida Ride is the brakes. They work quite well for the most part. However, if you happen to pick up some speed, it is easy to be a little unsure about the brakes. They do not respond as quickly or as well as we might have hoped.

+Pros:

  • Comfortable
  • Good handling
  • Lightweight frame
  • Carbon fork
  • Better for beginners or leisurely riders

-Cons:

  • A little expensive
  • A bit slow
  • Brakes need improvement

The Verdict

If you are looking to ease into cycling and want a bike to help you do that then the Merida Ride is a good choice.

While it may not be the fastest or the cheapest, there is no denying that the Merida Ride is quite comfortable. Therefore, it offers an encouraging start to those who wish to continue with the sport.
