Specialized Sirrus Review

Specialized is known for their dedication to doing some good for society, so it is no surprise that they endeavor to be affordable while also putting their efforts to give back to the community, specifically towards helping children with ADHD.

Their Sirrus bikes are designed for the everyday commuter, while also throwing in a few mountain bike specs for good measure. We took these bikes for a spin on varying terrain and through our town, and we were generally quite pleased with the ride.

The bikes are generally quite light, and feature Shimano components as well as some of Specialized’s own creations. The carbon and butted aluminum frames and forks make these bikes easy to handle and the ride a total breeze.

We couldn’t get much speed on these bikes, but that’s not really what they are made for, by the looks of it. The brakes could also use a bit of work on some of these models, but everything else seems to be in order. Tough treads, upright positioning, good grips, and mostly comfy saddles make these bikes a decent buy for the price range.

+Pros:

  • Mostly smooth handling
  • Comfortable grips and saddles
  • Upright positioning
  • Tough and durable frames and wheelsets
  • Lightweight

-Cons:

  • Not the speediest bikes
  • Unsatisfactory braking on some models

The Verdict

Overall, these bikes are good for the commute and some leisurely riding, with satisfactory performance on most roads.

For a budget bike, the Specialized Sirrus is worth its salt, offering some decent specs and performance for the price tag. Though we’ve had some better bikes for review in this price range, you can be sure you’re making a good purchase with a Specialized Sirrus.
