Santa Cruz Hightower Review

Santa Cruz Hightower is a mid-travel 29er bike model. These bikes are known to very versatile, and our reviewers set on to test that. Hightower is a high-end bike from the well respected Santa Cruz brand. The best price you can get will get close to $5,000 for one of these bikes. Our review is therefore written with high expectations in mind.

The Hightower model is quite popular among pro riders thanks to bikes like Tallboy LTc. These bikes are carbon through and through. The bikes actually have two types of carbon frames, C and CC. The C frames make up the lower price end of the Hightower like, while the higher priced bikes have C frames. C frames are about half a pound heavier than the CC frames.

These bikes feature top-notch designs and components. The frames are made around a Virtual Pivot Point suspension and have Boost hub spacing on the front and the rear. These bikes can compatible with 27.5 and 29 inch wheels. The bikes have travel forks about 140mm wide. The fork can be extended to 150mm if you want to change to wheels over 27 inches. Components include such lauded accessories such as RockShox Pike RC fork, SRAM Guide R brakes, and an SRAM 11-speed drivetrain.

We found that these bikes are best for speeding in a straight line, and also for sprinting out of turn. Overall, we loved the versatility this offered as a road bike.

+Pros:

  • Full carbon frames
  • High-end components
  • Designed for speeding

-Cons:

  • Very expensive
