Pashley Sovereign Review

There is a long history behind this bicycle manufacturer, and it shows in their designs. This company, founded back in the roaring 20s, focuses on utility and functionality with their urban commuters, and they have maintained that vintage look through the years.

The Sovereign has a girlish charm about it, especially with the wicker basket mounted in the front and the convenient pannier and mudguards. With upright positioning and solid construction, this bike is ideal for regular and long commutes. We rode for hours without feeling uncomfortable, and the spring saddle makes it easier to hit those bumpier pavements.

There is nothing impressive about the componentry, but they seem to do the needful. We had no trouble riding through our city traffic on the Sovereign.

+Pros:

  • Classic look
  • Women-friendly geometry
  • Mudguards
  • Panniers
  • Wicker basket
  • Comfortable saddle
  • Well suited for urban riders

-Cons:

  • A little costly
  • On the heavier side

The Verdict

A solid and vintage-looking urban riding bike made for women with classic and elegant tastes.

If you don’t mind shelling out a little bit for the Pashley Sovereign, it’s worth a buy. This bike looks beautiful and classy, and it rides comfortably. We looked past the weight of the frames, because this bike simply has too much charm to it.
