Nukeproof Mega Review

The Nukeproof Mega is just as much an enduro bike as it is a mountain bike. This series has been specifically tailored to tackle one of the most awe inspiring mountain races – the Megavalanche. As such, Nukeproof has attempted to perfect all of the requirements necessary to take on this mammoth race. Let’s take a look at how the brand did.

While the Mega is considerably more compact than its predecessors, this bike is still quite long. Thankfully, however, there are no consequences to this and the overall geometry of the bike really pulls together. Now that we had given the Mega an once-over, it was time to head to the mountains to give it a proper test ride.

What we were treated to was a wonderfully smooth ride. While this bike might be a bit on the heavy side, this wasn’t apparent at all as it gobbled up the slopes. The journey downwards was even better with the Mega being absolutely on point. One particular note of absolute respect to Nukeproof is their wonderful suspension. It allowed for a minimally uninterrupted ride.

The handling was quite impressive as well and it was easy to take those corners without a lot of worry. Particularly when you are hitting those more rugged mountainsides, it is nice to feel in control. The Nukeproof Mega certainly affords you that.

Perhaps the best aspect of the Mega is that it just does not let up. From the word go, you are treated to one of the best rides you will ever take up and down a mountainside. All in all, it makes for a fun and exciting ride.

+Pros:

  • Good, balanced design
  • Durable
  • Good handling
  • Great ascending and descending capabilities
  • Impressive suspension

-Cons:

  • A little heavy
  • Quite expensive

The Verdict

The Nukeproof Mega is full of good surprises. It really is one of the better enduro and mountain bikes around.

It is undeniable that the Mega requires some heavy investment. If you are serious about racing down mountains, however, this is definitely a series you should consider.
