Merlin Cordite Review

From the very first glance, you can tell that the Merlin Cordite was built to race. From its frame to the geometry, this bike had just one goal in mind. This is compounded by the high bottom bracket, short wheelbase, and short head tube. Another thing to note about this bike are the wheels which are perfectly weighted to get the job done.

That is the thing to note about the Cordite, however. You cannot fault its assembly. Merlin has put a great deal of thought and consideration into building this bike. From the materials used to the attention to detail, the Cordite truly is a work of art. This is quite comforting from the very beginning, especially considering that you will be coughing up a pretty penny for it.

The only thing left to do was to hit the streets with the Cordite. It looks like all of the effort that Merlin put into constructing this bike was worth it. We were able to get to top speed in a matter of moments. The light frame really comes in handy as you pass by other cyclists with a smile on your face.

The handling is also quite smooth, although you may want to watch out for those corners. Overall, however, this is a fast and disciplined bike that lives up to all of the hype of speed. Now Merlin, touts the Cordite as a well-rounded bicycle. For the most part this is true and you will not have too much trouble hitting the roads if you know what you are doing. We felt, however, that this was a bike that was best suited to racing and all that it entailed.

+Pros:

  • Lightweight
  • Good tires
  • Good handling
  • Fast

-Cons:

  • Best suited to more experienced cyclists or racers
  • A bit expensive

The Verdict

The Merlin Cordite provides cyclists with the ultimate racing experience and is a good investment for serious cyclists.

If you do not mind spending a little extra, the Merlin Cordite is a great buy. You will have essentially no complaints with this bike.
