Jamis Helix Review

When we reviewed the Jamis Helix, we were expecting something great, and that is what we got. This mountain bike is made for good handling while being able to throw down and get busy with no trouble at all.

We fell for the frame, which was made out of durable and lightweight 6061 aluminum tubes. The seat tube was intentionally oversized with a replaceable derailleur as well. The fork was a RST Gila with 100mm travel distance.

This was paired with Shimano derailleurs and shifters. The brakes were of an alloy linear pull type with Shimano levers. The handlebars, on the other hand, were Jamis’ own XC risers, as were the tires. The saddle was one of the most comfortable that we have experienced to date.

It was made for women to use, and was the Jamis ATB Sport Women’s saddle with a protective guard in the front and back. The best part about this bike was that it didn’t feel like we had to make an effort to get used to it. With a light weight and a great design, you can be sure that you will get the value you paid for with the Jamis Helix.

+Pros:

  • Nice design
  • Easy for beginners to use
  • Great equipment
  • Sturdy build
  • Lightweight

-Cons:

  • Felt a little hard to handle at speed

The Verdict

The bike was made for the perfect balance between speed, adventure and comfort, and is therefore one that we highly recommend to anyone interested in a great MTB!
