Despite its name, the Fulcrum Racing Quattro may not be the wheels to help you win races. This does not mean, however, that it will not give you the resilience, stiffness, and durability that you need in tough and unforgiving conditions.
Fulcrum Racing Quattro Review
If you haven’t had a Racing Quattro before, at the very least you have heard of the wheelsets. While they are common knowledge, they may not be one of the biggest sellers around. We feel this is somewhat of a shame, however, as this is a pretty decent wheelset. Especially so when you consider how much you are paying for it.
By no stretch of the imagination is the Racing Quattro a light bike. At the same time, it is not heavy enough to hold you down when you are trying to pick up speed. You may initially feel a little lag time as you try to accelerate, nonetheless.
If you were to name one outstanding feature of this wheelset, it would undoubtedly be the stiffness. The deep rim, as well as the straight-pull spokes, probably have something to do with this. Corners and cycling upwards are admirably handled by the Racing Quattro. However, the real treat is heading down the slopes. A word of the warning, all of the stiffness can be a bit of a disadvantage if you head to a rough patch. While the wheelset is more than capable of handling such terrain, you will certainly be able to feel every bump.
We continued to ride the Quattro for a long time after that, looking to put the wheelset through its paces. It has yet to show any signs of wear and tear and we have certainly not gone easy on it. Therefore, this is definitely worth the money that you pay for it.
- Wonderfully stiff
- Great price
- Works well on gentle slopes
- A bit heavy
The Fulcrum Racing Quattro is certainly value for money, with a reliable and consistent performance.
While it may not be the fastest wheelset on the market, there is very little to complain about the Racing Quattro.
