Early Rider Belter Review

Reviewing this bike was certainly an interesting feat, instead of the typical group, we had to pass on the job to a much smaller bunch. Needless to say, we were a little conflicted about how this particular session was going to turn. At any rate, our recruits looked ready to take on the challenge that lay ahead of them.

Prior to letting the little ones get their hands on the Early Rider Belter, we did a bit of a spot check first. The frame is as lightweight as promised and with unsteady riders, this does help a lot. We also found that the bike can easily be adjusted. This means that the extra money you have to spend is probably worth it. Even if your child does grow, you can simply adjust the seat post instead of having to spend on an entirely new bike.

The geometry of the Belter was also quite encouraging. The laidback geometry looks like it will help to maintain better balance on the bike. Pleased with our inspection, we decided to let the kids finally have their turn on the bikes. We chose kids ranging from 4 to 6 to see how the size claims would hold up. With just a little bit of adjustment, each child was settled in comfortably.

Then they were off, pedaling as hard as their little legs could manage. The fact that there was not a single upturned child proved us right about one thing – the kids were well balanced on the Belter. Also, the kids seemed to be having a great time which is essentially the point of the Belter, after all. If we had to change one thing about the bike, however, it would be the brakes. Especially with the little ones pedaling away, we felt that stronger ones would be better.

+Pros:

  • Well balanced
  • Lightweight
  • Fits different sizes
  • Can be used for a long time

-Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Needs better brakes

The Verdict

If you do not mind spending a bit of money, the Early Rider Belter is a great starter bike for children.

The Early Rider Belter is perfectly suited to little riders with a minimal weight and well-designed frame.
