Diamondback Airen Review

Daimondback is known better for their mountain bikes and fitness ranges, but they’ve earned a pretty good reputation in their four decade journey. The Diamondback Airen range features several road bike models for smaller budgets and beginner to intermediate riders. We took these bikes out for a spin through the streets to see how they would hold up.

Overall, these bikes performed really well, with good stopping power from Tektro and Shimano brakes, and smooth and easy shifting and riding. The geometry is conducive and convenient for women riders, and the designs of these bikes look great too. The finishing kit is really comfy too, with nice saddles and bottle cages available. This is great for those endurance runs and races.

We really liked the way these bikes rode when we took them out for review, though we expected better that Claris components for the Airen Sports model. However, you should be able to get this model at a price of a couple of hundred dollars now, in which case it’s a good budget option.

+Pros:

  • Light weight carbon and fully butted frames
  • Range of options for small to midrange budgets
  • Smooth riding
  • Picks up some good speeds
  • Top models good for competition
  • Lower end models good for practice and leisure
  • Rack and fender mounts as well as bottle cages available

-Cons:

  • Sport model a little underwhelming

The Verdict

A great and affordable choice of road and race bikes for women, with some good componentry, light frames, and excellent performance overall.

We really enjoyed getting to review the women-specific Diamondback Airen bikes. They come in several models and sizes to fit smaller made and taller women, and they perform superbly on the road. We definitely recommend them for racers and recreational riders alike. If you are hoping to compete, you should make sure to get the Airen 5 carbon model.
